Discover the beautiful, unspoilt and mysterious
AKAMAS PENINSULA, an adventure not to be missed!
After collecting you from your hotels between
8.30 and 8.45am our first stop will be at GEORGE'S REPTILE PARK in Peyia. Here
you will have the chance to see and learn more about the different species of reptiles
inhabiting the island of Cyprus!
After the informative guided tour at the park, it
is time for a coffee at the nearby cafeteria, before making our way off the beaten track
towards the AVAGAS GORGE, with its sheer limestone walls rising above you to the
height of 30 metres! A short drive will take us to one the most beautiful beaches on the
island, LARA BAY, also one of the last breeding grounds for the large GREEN
BACKED TURTLES, who come ashore every year to lay their eggs! You will have the
opportunity to visit the hatchery.
Off the beaten track through the AKAMAS FOREST
we will continue our journey to a tiny village called NEO CHORION. By now it is
LUNCHTIME!! You will all be hungry now so enjoy a delicious Cypriot lunch (with wine of
course!) in a small traditional old stone taverna. Relax and enjoy!!
After lunch we'll have a short walk through the
village where you might have the chance to still see the women engaging in the crafts of
pottery making, weaving and the age-old methods of making marmalade!
Time for some eternal youth and beauty now! A
visit to Cyprus would not be complete without a trip to the BATHS OF APHRODITE.
Via the little back roads we will take you to this magical place, where, according to
legend, the Goddess of Love, Aphrodite, used to bather with her lover Adonis.
After all this excitement it is now time for a
much needed refreshing swim in the cool, tranquil waters of one of the gorgeous bays in
this area, before heading back to Paphos by driving through the little villages
scattered around the AKAMAS PENINSULA!
Please Note: Swimming is weather
permitting only. Sensible shoes, swimwear and towels required. We are great admirers of
the way George runs the reptile park, therefore we ask our guests that a donation of
CYŁ1 per person be made to help him keep up the good work!
Please bring with you a couple of pounds for
coffee and tea in one of the local coffeeshops also.
